Pornographic writing doesn’t have to be bad writing. It can be funny, poetic, witty, passionate, powerful, insightful, suspenseful, and intelligent- all the qualities of traditional good writing.. The best can even be sublime, like the best of any art. That may seem strange for writing that essentially derives its inspiration from the loins, but that is also the derivation of life, and by all logic should be literature’s most powerful and creative metaphor. Should be, but, alas, it is not. Instead is most often used as a metaphor for guilt, shame, and disgust.

Why is that? Probably because procreation, or perhaps murder, is our most primitive act, and demands an image of ourselves we refuse to recognize. We deny and bury it- and make it a crime to dig it up.

Of course, such a denial is a lie that creative artists have never swallowed. Throughout the ages they’ve drawn, sculpted, written, painted abundant scenes of lust, seduction, and fucking. They’ve just never had the chance to display them much. When they have, such as the recent exhibition in Montreal of over 350 pornographic drawings and paintings by Pablo Picasso, they have been as electrifying, illuminating, funny, and, yes, sublime, as any great art ever created.

We think we need more, not less, avenues for this kind of creativity. If you are an author we offer a marketplace for those favorite playthings you did for your own titillation and stuck in the bottom drawer. Every author has a bundle, and we are sure they are some of your liveliest work. It's time to bring them out and we think this is the site to present them. Click on Authors to view the procedures for submissions.

We’d love to present drawings and paintings, so you artists, tell us about those at editors@explicitliterature.com.

As a start, this month we are featuring the hilarious work of unlicensed sex therapist Eric Johnson. You can read the complete short story "The Weirdest Case I Ever Had" and the complete short story"The Case of A Fish So Cold She Made Penguins Shiver." We are also offering the free download of his complete novel, the hilarious "The Coming Out Of Beatrice Wicks", an ingeniously plotted political sex farce thriller. The work has some of the best erotic writing found anywhere, with an ending as suspenseful and surprising as any modern thriller, yet it is essentially a wildly comic read, with one flat out hilarious scene after another, all adding up to an insightful and significant political satire. Read it. You'll never think of the present administraion in the same way again. Just click on Read Our Feature.

We intend Explicitliterature.com to be known as the place to find the best erotic writing. We will always be looking for cleaver, witty, ingenious, poetic, sexy, subterranean work, either by established authors or new ones. If you would like to display/sell your material here you'll need to upload it to our ftp address and notify editors@explicitliterature.com who you are and what was sent. Our editorial committee will review your work and let you know if we wish to present it. In general we will follow the formula shown here with the work of Eric Jonson- open reading of short works, sale of longer ones. This site will take a small percentage of the gross for whatever it sells both as e-book or hardcopy. We will offer our contacts for publishing if the author as yet has no publisher.
